‘Highly Glamorous’ Great Gatsby Soundtrack Announced

The Great Gatsby

My anticipation level is at its limit. The Great Gatsby soundtrack announcement is just as irresistible as the sexy cast (hello Leonardo DiCaprio, Toby Maguire and Carry Mulligan), gorgeous costumes by Prada and decadent trailer footage (check it out below).  Baz Luhrmann NAILED the artist list that will set the scene for his rendition of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. He selected the best of the best, handpicking top-shelf stars.

Tracks that I’m dying to hear include Beyonce and Andre 3000’s cover of the Amy Winehouse song “Back to Black”, Lana Del Rey’s new single “Young and Beautiful” and opening track “100$ Bill” by Jay-Z. According to Digital Spy, Del Rey says the “The movie is highly glamorous and exciting; Rick Nowels and I were thrilled to write the song for the film.” Artists such as Fergie, Florence and the Machine and The xx also made the cut.

You can hear snippets throughout the trailer:

I don’t know if Fitzgerald would be pumped about this lineup, but I think that I have made my opinion clear. Luhrmann is completely feeding into my obsession with the 20’s and I can’t hardly wait for the May 10 premier. Let’s just hope the execution lives up everyone’s grand expectations.
