Midweek Music: An Ode to Swedish Design
Last summer there were two standout singles that you couldn’t go 15 minutes in a public space without hearing. 1) Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen and 2) I love It by Icona Pop. They both bring back all of my best (and worst) memories from last summer, but can we skip the Carly Rae track for everyone’s sanity? Icona Pop finally hit the US big last summer and it’s only one example of the quality that is produced by that majestic nordic country.
I have have visited Stockholm, Sweden several times, and each time I fall more in love with the simple but cheerful culture. Over the years I have compiled a list of Swedish favorites. Here’s my short of of top three favorite Swedish clothing company and musicians. Let’s start with the clothes, shall we?
TOP THREE SWEDISH DESIGNERS
Swedes have mastered many things (the art of neutrality, drunk moose in trees, open viking seas), and fashion is no exception. Always on the cutting edge of style, their designs have a reputation for quality, sophistication and trendy internationally. Most notably, they have mastered the sexy conservative. Think Anne Taylor Loft for employees at Vogue.
