The Most Coveted Jacket This Fall
Two weeks ago I saw Capital Cities perform at the House of Blues. Not only did they steal the show right from under Fitz and the Tantrums, they looked impeccable in matching bomber jackets (as if the purple trombone wasn’t already enough to impress me). The evidence:
And they aren’t the only ones wearing this WWII style jacket right now. Bombers and varsities are everywhere and this season, and since I missed Midweek Music (I’m sorry! new job struggles), most of my examples will be musical influences. Here’s how influential musicians are wearing this falls most coveted jacket:
Like what you see? Because I’m all about this jacket. It’s the right mix of sexy, trendy, comfort, vintage, warmth and a touch of badass. Bomber jackets exude confidence. Like Ryan Gosling in Drive. Just try to tell me that jacket didn’t accentuate his hotness. So here’s how influential Ryan Gosling is in a bomber jacket:
Like I said, the bomber checks off a lot of important boxes. I melt right into the silky liners, and they pair great with a hat since they are hoodless. I can manage to still wear my bomber into the office as well. Granted, I am in the creative field and things tend to be a little more casual on that end. Tons of them are even more of a bomber/varsity hybrid. The mix looks great, and I’m a sucker for them because I can’t help but get a little nostalgic for collegiate charm in the fall.
Nonetheless, the bomber is a great all-around, everyday way to keep warm before the temperatures drop to unholy levels. Luckily they make this cute in so many materials. For now a canvas or quilted look might work fine. In later months a well-lined leather one will get you through the tougher months. Layer them with a great sweater (such a Jill’s latest Trend Tuesday crown jewel sweater), some fall colored jeans, or some black leather pants and tackle your day with confidence.
Here are a few jackets that I wouldn’t mind adding to my collection:
And lastly, as seen on Miss Miley above, the lovely Isabel Marant version:
What do you think about the bomber jacket? How would you wear this every day?
