Trend Tuesday: The Grammys Proved My Point

Did you miss my Grammys fashion roundup yesterday? Well, if you want to catch up, you can find it here, or you can just take this one sentence to heart and get the entire recap: metallics are huge. Seriously, nearly everyone who made the best dressed lists on all the fashion blogs (including this one) was wearing metallic. Rita Ora, Taylor Swift, Chrissy Teigen and Ciara all rocked metallic and all looked fabulous.

So, we’re all basically all style sisters … except Taylor Swift because I refuse to be in any category with her ever – considering she thinks she wins everything.

#SorryNotSorry – anyway, as January comes to a close, it’s only fitting that the Grammys showcase just how “in” metallics are – and in full-form, none of this accent BS. Could February mean I wear a metallic jumpsuit? Not exactly, need a little variety (but you’d all love that, wouldn’t you?)

Anyway, this week – I’m feeling a brunch outfit. Brunch is a huge deal in Boston (and basically everywhere else) because it involves some of everyone’s favorite things: gossip, loads of carbs and lots of drinking. Brunching has changed a lot since I was in college. For one, I don’t go out in sweatpants in public anymore (unless you count today because you try commuting in -5 degree weather in a skirt), and another point, we’re now classy and drink fancy mimosas and bloody marys – not wine in a bag.

I really hated this skirt with the black tights last week (I don’t care what Club Monaco tells me), so I went back to nude tights – SUE ME, IT’S REALLY COLD I DON’T CARE. I decided that I wanted to dress down the look a bit (it IS brunch after all), so while pearls and a metallic skirt may seem frilly, I went with tall, worn in boots and a chambray shirt to finish out the outfit.

It's chillay.

It’s chillay.

Shirt: Gap. Boots: Steve Madden. Watch: Michael Kors. Necklace: J. Crew. Sunglasses: Chloe.

Suggestion: go out and buy one of those Gap shirts now. They’re so comfortable it’s like wearing a T-shirt. Just be warned that they’re not super heavy so maybe it’s better to whip it out in spring time, or you know, one week when there isn’t a Polar Vortex (do those weeks exist anymore?)

Honestly, February’s Trend Tuesday might just be me wearing a sleeping bag. I’ll change up the hats on a weekly basis, though, so you don’t have to feel like it’s too repetitive.

What would you think about pairing a neutral (like chambray) with something loud and crazy (like metallic)? I, for one, am a HUGE fan and will definitely wear this to brunch all the time. Until I inevitably spill something on myself.
