Friday Finds: The Perfect Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas
Happy Valentine’s Day! What’s everyone’s plans? Whether you’re single, taken, married, whatever, it’s nice to get into the spirit. Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to dress up, no matter what you’re doing. Above all else, it gives you an excuse to wear red, which I swear there’s a shade for everyone.
In the spirit of the Hallmark holiday, I am giving you a rundown of outfit ideas that you probably have lying around your closet but haven’t thought of. After all, it can really depend on what you’re doing.
I, personally, love girls’ night Valentines. I’ve had plenty, and it’s always a really good time. In fact, go out on the town because there will also be a ton of single guys out looking to hang out since all their taken friends will no doubt be out to dinner. Here’s what I think makes for the perfect girls’ night Valentine’s outfit:
I say go all-out sexy. Open-toed booties? So in right now! If you’ve got a short, tight skirt, you want to make sure the top isn’t too vulgar. Buying a structured shirt that shows off your curves but doesn’t let it all hang out is the right amount of sexy. Let your legs do the talking (and dancing!)
The first date:
Okay, maybe not a first date, first date – but VERY early into the relationship. I’m talking still in the “getting to know you” phase. A Valentine’s first date is pret-tay ballsy, and there can be a lot of uncertainty. This is why I think it’s better to play it safe than sorry. Dress really cute, but don’t overdo it. Be sexy, yet slightly understated.
This is a surefire way to land another date. Pairing a billowy silk top with something that cinches you in right at the waist is probably the best thing you can do. However, because you still want a casual element to the outfit, the flat boots in a neutral color help complete the outfit without making you look too overdone. No matter where you’re going in this outfit, you’ll fit in.
Cozy date night:
Heading out to one of your favorite hole-in-the wall restaurants? Just getting home from work? Want a casual night in with takeout and awesome movies? The cozy date night is, in my opinion, the ideal scenario, and it’s important that you understand comfortable can still be cute.
I’m essentially letting you know that this is what I’m wearing on MY Valentine’s date. Also, it wouldn’t be lingerie month at The Femme Fatales without a lace cami. I’ll be wearing mine for, you know, research, and I can’t stress enough that it’s SO comfortable and perfectly sexy. Plus, you can eat a huge pasta meal (like I’m going to), and it will still hide all of your flaws.
Fancy date night:
There are couples who put out ALL the big stops on Valentine’s Day. I’m talking incredibly fancy dinner at the nicest steakhouse in town, extravagant gifts for each other and dressing to impress. The fancy date night means you have to pull out all the stops and yes, that unfortunately means ditching boots/booties for the evening in favor of a sexy heel. You’ll see.
The fancy date is ALL about sex appeal. You’ll want to make sure the dress hugs your curves just right and that you don’t do overkill on the jewelry. Something like statement earrings is fine, but you don’t want to have too much going on, since you want the attention to be, well, on you.
No matter which outfit idea you go with, be sure to sport some lacy, sexy underwear today. After all, isn’t that what Valentine’s Day is all about? Victoria’s Secret thinks so. Okay – so I have to know – what’s your Valentine’s night going to consist of?
