Trend Tuesday: Say Goodbye to These
If you’ve seen Arrested Development, you’ll understand the reference. Except I’m not flashing anyone (HAHA, got you to click!), no, instead you can say goodbye to me for a month. That’s right, friends: since starting this blog, I have made an ass of myself on a monthly basis wearing weird, wacky trends. Some wackier than others (cough KIMONO cough). But for March, we’re taking a different approach: Amy, my fierce fashion companion and co-bloggess, will be taking over for me as the Trend Tuesday model while I am in China for a couple weeks.
Oh yeah, I’m going to China for a couple weeks, for those who didn’t know. While I would love to be sporting trends in China (and I still might), I’ll be virtually disconnected from the states for a couple weeks – and dealing with a 13-hour time difference with all of you back home. This means that next Monday’s much-anticipated “Jill Takes On Oscar Fashion” blog will be my last until March 24th. Don’t cry for me, fashionistas, you’ll be fine in Amy’s very capable hands. In fact, I’m willing to bet money that when I return to #TT in April, you’ll be like “ugh, not this weirdo again – bring back the pretty, stylish one!”
But let’s celebrate one last time, shall we? I was supposed to showcase a going out outfit, and I did – except I kind of cheated. See, I plan on wearing this outfit while going out THIS WEEKEND COMING UP, because I was a little worse for wear this past Saturday (and writing a paper). Trust in the fact that I will be sporting this exact outfit in the very, very near future (with the exception of the boots, perhaps, because you never know when show is going to hit Boston again – like three times this week, actually). It’s great to wear with something edgy like leather (which makes up the rest of my total outfit).
Anyway, Amy and I trekked over to the Boston Public Library because it was the perfect day for some gorgeous, slightly overcast photos that just made the lighting work oh-so-well.
Can I just say this past weekend had the best weather ever? I mean, I wore that entire outfit outside. No 5 layers. No wool socks. No disgusting smelly rain boots. Why can’t you always be like this Boston? Why? My hope is that I will come home from China (where it’ll be about 20-30 degrees warmer) and it’ll suddenly be spring. I DO get back around the first day of spring, so it’d be nice if we weren’t buried under snow.
It has been a long road with the silk cami, but I quite enjoyed it. In fact, I plan on buying a lot of silk during my travels (I’m going to a silk MUSEUM, you guys) so maybe if I’m feeling super lazy I’ll wear it again in April.
The top is really easy to dress up or down, and yet it’s always comfortable. If I had been wearing it in the summer, I’d most likely pair it with a skirt, but the cold weather has me sticking to a strictly pants and boots wardrobe. Oh well, at least I got to shed a few layers this past weekend.
Thinking of getting a silk cami for yourself? I HIGHLY recommend it. They’re fairly inexpensive and then you can say you’ve tried the lingerie trend that’s been everywhere all winter. I’d give it a 7 to pull off, losing points because I don’t know just how well it’d work in an office settings. For everything else, though? It’s amazeballs.
Well, try not to miss me too much. In the meantime I am handing over the reins to Amy. I’ll still be writing a couple more posts, but this is the last time you’ll “see” me for a good month or so.
