We Need To Talk About Emma…
A few months ago, I started a series revolving around the style of my favorite celebrities. Of course, it ended quickly because award season happened, and then I was gone and then, well, I don’t know no one was inspiring me lately. I will give myself credit for doing a Lupita Nyong’o post first BEFORE awards season, because really, I knew that girl would be a style star. Anyway, I decided to bring back the series on Mondays but was racking my brain trying to figure out who has been that impressive lately.
BUT THEN. Emma Stone comes out of the woodwork like the beautiful red-headed phoenix she is and there was much rejoicing because ahhh maahhhh gahhhd the girl can dress. So thank you, Spider-Man 2, whatever your real title is, because you have brought Emma Stone back to where she belongs: on the red carpet wearing fabulous couture.
This post will be dedicated to her entire press tour for Spider-Man 2 because it has been SPOT ON. I mean, she dresses awesomely all the time, but I don’t know, I never pass up the opportunity to judge red carpet-worthy gowns.
Is it just me or is this Chanel dress perfection? It’s wispy, it has hints of metallic, the colors match her hair and complexion PERFECTLY. I haven’t been a HUGE fan of Chanel recently, and this is actually from the Pre-Fall 2014 collection. Also, way to rock the retro curls, Emma, you awesome fashiony sphinx. And the shoes match the metallic accents on the dress perfectly. Brava!
I’ve mentioned before that I haven’t been a huge fan of Atelier Versace, but I will say this isn’t the typical Versace gown. It’s not a shiny material, it doesn’t have a lot of bling and cutouts and it’s not in some 80’s-esque pastel. This dress is AWESOME. I think it’s my favorite out of the whole press tour, because I am a sucker for bright yellow gowns (see also: Michelle Williams at the Oscars in Vera Wang).
She’s actually been getting some flack for this dress – “Emma Stone gets her Catwoman on” has been mentioned in more than one headline. I actually really like it. Now the shoes, I hate. They’re a little much. With such a heavy dress, she kept everything else (minus the shoes) simple. Very little jewelry, a non-fussy hairdo and yet an awesome statement lip.
YASSSSS, GIRL, YASSSSSSS. This color of f-l-a-w-l-e-s-s. I’m usually not a fan of this hemline…it typically makes people like stumpy. Also, I just looked it up and she’s 5’6″ so it’s not like she’s uber statuesque or anything. I think this is pretty much perfection. Only complaint? Black clutch. I understand the need to not match all around, but gold or white would’ve been better.
Emma Stone has officially achieved something I’ve always aspired to (other than dating Andrew Garfield): getting bangs and ROCKING them. I love the hint of edginess on this typically sweet dress. I mean, it’s white and flowy, yet it has metal accents and rocks some serious side boob. Also – awesome makeup. Typically this color can be dangerous and look washed-out, but the makeup makes it.
Are you loving Emma Stone’s press outfits as much as I am for this circuit? I personally love the fact she’s been so varied in her choices – trying different colors, cuts, designers. Given the fact she’s best friends with Alber Elbaz at Lanvin, it’d be easy for her to just stick with that house. Instead, she shopped around and it paid off handsomely.
