We Need To Talk About Camilla…
Camilla Belle is probably one of the most striking people in the limelight. I mean, seriously, the only person with more brows in the game is Cara Delevingne, but even then it’s a whole different look. I remember Camilla Belle from the Disney Channel original movie “Rip Girls” (which was awesome, by the way). I’ve never wanted to be a surfer in Hawai’i more than that one summer. Since then, she hasn’t really been in much worth noting, with the exception of “When a Stranger Calls” and that Taylor Swift song in which she basically trashes Belle for daring to get together with her ex-boyfriend, Joe Jonas, after be broke up with her via text message. This further solidified my love for Camilla Belle and led me to question why a Jonas brother was ever worth fighting over in the first place…although I guess we can say the same about Aaron Carter.
Anyway, despite never really breaking out in Hollywood, Belle remains an indie darling and red carpet fixture because not only is she stunning, but she has an impeccable sense of style. Since we continually go in and out of hiatus with this series, I’m hoping to make it a bit more of a permanent fixture on Mondays, and re-introducing Camilla Belle to the world is the perfect way to kick it off.
This was the look that made me decide to dedicate an entire post to Belle in the first place. As mentioned earlier, she can sometimes be easy to forget…until she shows up on the red carpet looking like this and then you’re like “ohhh right.” Black and white graphic prints are all the rage right now, and I love that she chose a dress with a crop top without flashing abs. I mean, she did wear it dining with the creative heads of Gucci, so it’s important not to be too scandalous.
There’s a lot going on here, but I’m all for it. I’m all for dresses that have are a mixed media of awesomeness, and while I frequently avoid anything snakeskin, I think this is an exception. This dress is awesome, and I love that she kept everything else simple with the exception of an awesome cocktail ring. Let the dress speak for itself!
Flowers? For spring? Groundbreaking. In all seriousness, this dress is uber pretty. This shouldn’t be surprising, given that it’s an Oscar de la Renta, but you get the idea. I love that she kept the rest of the look basic with nude or gold accessories, rather than trying to overpower the busy floral pattern. If this girl knows how to do one thing, it’s accessorize.
I am actually surprised I was able to find a casual outfit picture, because Belle seems to always be dressed to the nines. But here we go and with the exception of wearing a hat, this is pretty much my staple ensemble when out and about on the weekends. Knee-high boots, skinny jeans, leather jacket and scarf? Done, done and done (and done).
This is probably my favorite look of all time of Camilla Belle’s. This was at the Met Ball three years ago when they honored Prada and Schiaparelli. She shows up with this gorgeous, retro gown in the most statement lips I had seen on a red carpet in a long time. I told everyone in the office the next day that she was by far my Best Dressed, and still remains one of my favorite looks of all time.
Do you have a style crush on Camilla Belle as much as I do? I feel like it’s kind of hard not to…
