We Need To Talk About Beyonce…

Just so you know, this week is Beyonce week. I’ll be attending her and Jay’s “On the Run” tour tomorrow night, Amy’s in Paris, it just feels right. With the exception of tomorrow’s “choose your destiny” Trend Tuesday, this week will be entirely dedicated to all things Beyonce (you’ll see what I mean as the week progresses).

Anyway, it kick off the Bey week, it only felt natural to induct her into the “We Need to Talk About…” Hall of Fame. Beyonce has come a long way since rocking matching outfits with Destiny’s Child made by one Miss Tina Knowles. She went on to have a very successful solo act both in life and in fashion. It’s hard to choose five episodes because, well, she’s FLAWLESS, so let’s do our best.

in Armani Prive.

in Armani Prive.

Loved this dress at the 2007 Oscars. Beyonce was attending the show at the height of the Dreamgirls hype, and while she didn’t get as much critical acclaim as her costar, Jennifer Hudson, she still knocked them dead on the red carpet. This Grecian-inspired dress is regal and I love the minty hue. The one thing I’ll say is I think it could have looked a lot better with an updo, but I get the ethereal look she was going for in this instance.

in Lanvin.

in Lanvin.

I think this Lanvin dress will always go down in history because it was what Beyonce was wearing when she announced to the world that she was pregnant with Blue Ivy (though whether or not she was actually pregnant continues to be disputed). It also helps that she has killer highlights and the color of the gown looks great on her. I’m normally not a fan of something so billowy, but I like how this allowed her to give the extra surprise when she drew attention to her stomach.

in Balmain.

in Balmain.

Remember when the Balmain dresses with the exaggerated shoulder pads were a huge trend a few years ago? So does Beyonce, apparently. Or a least I do because I put this dress on the list. Beyonce showed up at the 2009 BET Awards being completely on-trend. Speaking of the BET Awards, anyone else catch her and Jay’s performance last night? I can’t wait to see that ish in person in a little more than 24 hours. Anyway, this dress is colorful and fun thanks to the matching earrings and tinkerbell hem.

in Versace.

in Versace.

YASSSSSSSSSS. Normally hate all things velvet, but I remember watching Beyonce walk down the red carpet at the Oscars back in 2005 and going crazy over her and Jay-Z showing up. This was back when they were like, never commenting on their relationship. My, how times have changed. Anyway, I love the drop earrings and the dramatic hair. Although the dress is Versace, it looks a little different thanks to the heavy fabric (perfect for March…but maybe not for Los Angeles).

in Emilio Pucci.

in Emilio Pucci.

I freaked when I saw Beyonce walk down to the podium at Obama’s second inauguration (to sing the much-debated National Anthem). This dress was amazing on its own, but the crazy curls, the gorgeous emerald earrings, the fur? I normally hate fur but I couldn’t even fault it for this particular outfit. It’s freezing in D.C. and she just comes in the ultimate winter ensemble. It was, for lack of a better phrase (and one that’s used quite often on this blog), Beyonce Flawless.

And so we kick of Beyonce week….can’t wait to fill you in on the “On the Run” tour on Wednesday. What’s your favorite Beyonce look?
